I had the pleasure of touring Tikvah Lake and spending time with several of the staff members. As a professional in the industry, it’s extremely valuable to know treatment programs and the staff implementing those programs. After a day and a half learning about Tikvah Lake I’m confident in sending clients there. I know they will be taken care of in every aspect from their hospitality team to their clinical team. They go to great lengths to treat each of their guests uniquely and individually in designing a treatment plan and meeting them where they are at. The accommodations are top tier and the attention to detail and care are impressive. Outstanding in what you do Tikvah Lake!
I have stayed at both Tikvah and park manor (fortunately/unfortunately because I needed 2 stays). Both houses are great! Tikvah has a more “modern” feel and park manor has a more “Home like” feel. I am a professional so those looking for a place to have the freedom to stay in touch with work and have a place who understands this, this is the right place! What makes this company so special, unique, and sets it apart from anywhere else (unfortunately this isn’t my first rodeo, I relapsed after 3.5 years) is the staff. The concierges truly want to make you as comfortable and happy as possible!! Roosevelt, Dee, Dianne, Linda, Victoria, Dana, and Leslie are all hands down incredible and truly do this job because they CARE about the clients. I’ve been in and out of therapy since college (I’m 45), i haven’t had therapists more engaged, knowledgeable and caring. Byron at Tikvah and Jimmy at Park Manor are incredible, honestly words can’t describe how amazing they are. I just left an 11 day stay at park manor, I can tell you in that short time jimmy made a huge impact with myself as well as my relationships with my kids due to me breaking trust relapsing. He taught me how to manage triggers and process stress and depression in a positive way. This company was a God send to me!! Katherine, the director, will give you her cell phone and encourage you to call if you need ANYTHING, and she means it!! The food is great and if you don’t like something the concierge staff will make sure you do have a meal you enjoy, the chef prepares alternative dishes too. There’s a pool and hot tub at each location. You will have your own room and bathroom! The groups are great! Alesia was my favorite facilitator, Neville is amazing as well and does a great job challenging you in a positive way. The mix of personality’s and therapy style couldn’t be better!! I will say make sure you are clear on your expectations with Zack (admissions), he is a reasonable guy, cares, is transparent, and also will be available before, during and after your stay (rare for an admissions person in my experience). Also if you know you’ve got a hard detox ahead of you, let him know. Both houses manage medicine but they aren’t a “full detox”, Zack will set this up for you if need be before coming to one of the houses. I hope I never need to go back, but if I do, I will hands down come here. I will miss all of these people who cared for me like they’ve known me for years yet I was a complete stranger. But I will keep in touch.
My Experience at Tikvah Lake Recovery
I recently completed a 30-day stay at Tikvah Lake Recovery.
While I don’t have previous treatment experiences to compare it to, Tikvah fully met—and in many ways exceeded—my expectations.
Highlights:
• Exceptional Staff: The concierge and support team were first-class, consistently going above and beyond.
• Outstanding Therapists: I worked with two individual therapists, both of whom were incredibly skilled, insightful, and supportive.
• Whole-Body Wellness: Daily sessions with a personal trainer, yoga, massage therapy, and acupuncture contributed significantly to my physical and emotional recovery.
• Balanced Schedule: Tikvah provided valuable downtime for personal reflection, connecting with family, or even keeping up with light work responsibilities—something I greatly appreciated.
Things to Consider:
• Program Structure: I really just have one, though this was not a negative factor for me. If you are seeking a facility that schedules meetings or groups every waking hour (including weekends), Tikvah’s structure—which intentionally incorporates downtime—might not be what you are looking for.
A Personal Note:
During my stay, I made two serious mistakes within one week.
Katherin Wesley, Clinical Director, easily could have discharged me. Instead, she met the situation with compassion and grace—when we discussed what happened, she had tears in her eyes. She believed in me. She fought for me.
Looking back, I truly believe that one day—maybe even 20 years from now—I will say she saved my life.

In summary, Tikvah Lake Recovery provided a nice balance between therapy sessions, personal wellness, and free time for yourself.
Having been to multiple rehab facilities before, I’ve gained a clearer sense of what works for me in recovery. I understand that no facility can perfectly meet everyone’s expectations, but I can share my subjective experience at Tikvah. Overall, I found most of the staff to be incredibly supportive and focused on making my stay as comfortable as possible. I never felt judged or burdened by the stigma often tied to addiction—in fact, I felt the opposite, which was a relief. Compared to a previous “luxury” facility I attended, Tikvah stood out for its effective therapy. Jimmy, in particular, was exceptional—the best therapist I’ve encountered in years of treatment, hands down.
That said, I wouldn’t describe the facility as luxurious, despite how it might be marketed. It’s comfortable and clean, but the accommodations felt dated—think basic bedding rather than high-end sheets or beds. The food was a letdown for me; I ended up eating mostly carbs, which felt at odds with the recovery focus on a healthy lifestyle. I’d hoped for more nutritious options.
Staff interactions were a mixed bag. While I appreciated the kindness of Zack, Katherine, and the concierge team—who genuinely seemed to care—I often heard more about their personal lives than I shared about mine outside of therapy sessions. Medical oversight was another concern. There’s no medical director, and the nurse, Wendy, came across as cold and dismissive. Early in my stay, I had an infection that staff overlooked for three days until my personal doctor intervened with a prescription.
Despite these challenges, I left Tikvah proudly sober and confident in my recovery. Jimmy’s therapy, along with the support from much of the staff, made a real difference. It’s not a perfect place, and it’s no substitute for home, but I’m grateful for my time there. If you’re considering Tikvah, I’d say it’s a solid option for therapy-focused recovery—just don’t expect luxury or flawless care. Thanks to everyone who helped me along the way.
i went to tikvah lake for bipolar disorder and substance use. the treatment that i received there is priceless. the therapists are incredible, the director is a beacon of light, and the staff are the most welcoming and loving people. i felt like i was home. the environment was inviting, luxurious, and comfortable. they taught me tools to use in the real world that help me cope with my issues. they helped me with medication adjustments and when i needed something done they listened to me and helped me accomplish what i set out to do. not everything is always perfect, but there was always a solution at tikvah. and that’s all i could’ve ever asked for. thank you so much for all that you’ve done for me.
