My experience at The Haven - New England has been excellent in every regard. The staff are friendly, welcoming, knowledgeable and professional from intake to discharge.
The housing is very comfortable with a large
screen and headphones for each person in double occupancy rooms.
The therapists are gifted and offer satisfying program sessions. My one-on-one therapist was a perfect match.
The food is very good and the cafeteria stocked with snacks, sandwiches and heat-and-eat meals 24/7.
I strongly recommend The New World Haven!
This place is incredible! The facility is beautiful, clean and peaceful, all of the staff are incredibly kind and caring and they treat clients like equals, and the food is restaurant quality. I was so impressed with The Haven and I left there feeling positive, hopeful, and excited to live life sober! I am very grateful to all of the staff who helped me heal and treated me with kindness, compassion and understanding. You are all (counselors, case managers, medical/nursing staff, kitchen staff, cleaning staff, transportation staff) amazing people! I highly recommend The Haven for anyone looking to break free from the chains of addiction. To everyone who works at The Haven, thank you all so much for everything! You all made a huge difference in my life. Four months later, I’m doing great and I’m still sober!
Over the past year, I’ve had extensive experience in public psychiatric wards due to both recent and long-standing trauma—including homelessness, a divorce involving infidelity, suicide attempts, and time spent in an abusive environment. The Haven will be my seventh mental health facility; the others were all public wards.
To be honest, those experiences were incredibly disheartening. In nearly every public ward I attended, patients were often treated without dignity. There was frequent rudeness from staff, a lack of basic essentials like quality body wash, shampoo, or conditioner, and ongoing exposure to additional stressors—fighting, chaos, and even traumatic incidents within units meant for trauma care.
That’s why I feel so strongly about places like The Haven. The difference in environment and treatment is more impactful than most people would expect. Even something as simple as having a real mattress instead of a cot creates a sense of comfort and safety that matters deeply when you’re trying to heal.
Most importantly, the staff here have been extraordinarily kind, compassionate, and supportive. That alone changes everything.
I would wholeheartedly encourage anyone navigating mental health challenges—especially trauma—to seek out a facility like this if it’s an option. You deserve to be treated with dignity while you heal.
The Haven gave me my life back! I walked into that facility a broken soul, desperate to feel better and to regain my life of recovery. I spent 22 days within those walls and I have never given myself a bigger gift. I wanted to stop using but no matter how I tried, I could not stop on my own. The staff welcomed me and immediately I felt comfortable. Sure there were moments I did not want to be there, but once completing treatment I am so glad I stayed the length of time I did. Each day I felt a little better and most of the other clients were amazing. I gained so many friendships that will last a lifetime and we all helped eachother heal a day at a time. Big shout outs to Treasure, Emily, Kim, Helson, Dave, and Joe. Dave, Carl and Erika on the night staff were saviors too. They all impacted my time there more than I could express. Most of the nurses were amazing as well and the chefs were great too.I hope to go back one day and inspire another person to dig deep and crawl out of the depths of addiction. It is possible and there is a solution.
