Sandstone Care Virginia Detox

My time at sandstone was 99% positive. The nurses, therapists, and social workers were absolutely phenomenal. They could not have been more friendly, understanding, and helpful - all except one. I did not have Kenyetta as my individual therapist and only had one interaction with her while I was being discharged, during which she was excessively confrontational and hostile. She came up to me out of nowhere as I was signing my discharge papers and she immediately picked a fight with me and declared that I was being “rude” to her when I simply responded that I didn’t need any assistance with the discharge process. As someone who has been through several inpatient and outpatient programs and has worked with countless therapists and social workers, this individual belongs in quite literally ANY field besides this one. I am absolutely baffled beyond belief that this woman passed the interview process, let alone has been allowed to stay here for as long as she has. Someone with such an adversarial temperament as hers should be nowhere near this type of facility as she is completely unequipped to deal with people who are in their most vulnerable state. I say this not out of spite or malice, but out of genuine concern for the patients at Sandstone. I am not the only person who had an offensively negative experience with her - every single patient that had her as their individual therapist expressed to me that she was unnecessarily rude and actually reversed the progress they had been making in group therapy. I seriously hope these concerns are taken seriously and that something is done to address this hostile individual, because it can genuinely endanger someone’s life to be attacked that way when they are already going through so much. Her position at Sandstone - and as a social worker in general - needs to be completely reevaluated. Once again, I truly hope that her rude remarks and belligerent behavior are addressed, because the safety of the patients at Sandstone is at extreme risk with her around. For the sake of our community’s physical safety, this absolutely must be addressed with haste.

I never thought I’d be able to say something like this but Sandstone Care Detox Center SAVED MY LIFE. I have been to a lot of rehab facilities. All of them always felt like I was just an addict in and addict out. A number really. Sandstone, however, was the experience I needed this time to truly make the change. From when I walked in hurting and struggling to the minute I left, I was uplifted by the staff. I got to know almost every staff member personally. They listened and most importantly…they CARED. My clinician Amber Edelman made sure I always felt like the most important person in the room no matter how many patients she saw that day. The techs took the time to be not only a caregiver but a friend. The med team never faltered in helping me understand what medications I was taking. The attention to detail was immaculate. (Shoutout to Larry! He stepped up and made sure I never felt unheard when it came to almost anything I came to him with.) I know getting clean is ultimately a choice despite the disease but the team at Sandstone gave me the head start I needed to be successful for the first time! They not only gave me the medical attention I needed always…but they helped me learn what it means to love myself enough to change my life. If you’re looking for a place to find help, RUN, don’t walk to Sandstone Care Detox Center.

My adult son, who battles addiction, went through two different dual treatment facilities previously and quickly relapsed. He spent one month at Sandstone and is now working, living at a sober home, and he has been sober for nearly 3 months. He seems genuinely happy for the first time in a very long time. We give the Sandstone facility in Chantilly, VA a lot of credit.

I absolutely love my experience at sandstone! It has completely changed my life.the ENTIRE staff and therapists there SOO INCREDIBLY experienced ,well seasoned, compassionate and thoughtful. They make sure to go out of their way to give you what you need and if they can’t do it they will find someone that can for the most part . The food is great the living/housing situation is clean and full of all the supplies needed to maintain sanitation . Groups held are so resourceful and I was able to utilize those coping skills along with proper medication that I didn’t know I even needed to help me with continue my journey. All the therapists there are AMAZING. I was BLESSED with having heather as my individual therapist. I hold all future therapists of mine to a higher standard because of her. If you are thinking or even interested in going to sandstone … stop thinking about it and just go. AND STAY for the whole program It will be the best decision you ever made .i stayed an extra week .
