I decided to go to an Addiction Recovery Facility after 50 years of Active Addiction. This was a huge step for me!! I made the call, originally, to contact the AAC in Grand Prairie for geographical reasons and found out that particular location was out of network with my insurance. I spoke with a 24 hour representative named Gene who recommended Etta, MS, AAC. After describing the facility, as far as surroundings, we immediately began the entry process. I was going to rehab after 50 years of self abuse.I was excited and apprehensive at the same time.
Upon arrival at the facility, my eyes and my heart were filled with Awe!!!! This beautiful facility, engulfed with spectacularly stunning views of nature, would be my Healing Space for the next few weeks. There are Geese and Ducks as well as a furry friend who Loved belly rubs 🥰
What has transpired over these past few weeks is nothing short of a Miracle. This facility’s dedicated staff is warm, nonjudgmental and welcoming. I discovered that this team of qualified professionals are PASSIONATE about sharing their unique specialties to guide me on my path to sobriety. The groups are very engaging and supportive towards my recovery goals . Participation has been highly encouraged!!!
Being surrounded by peers and staff, equally invested in my recovery work, has been key to my growth and recovery success.
I am scheduled to return back into the World this upcoming week and am looking forward to creating a Sober Life with my Loved Ones. I am overwhelming Grateful to all of the amazing staff who have chosen to support and guide me through this challenging journey and who have given me skills to ensure a better life for myself and my family. Thank You, AAC, for changing my life ❤️
Love,
Elisabeth G
The services offered by the Oxford Treatment Center, combined with the caring, compassionate, and professional staff, guided me on my healing journey, rooted in purposeful and clinically sound principles.
The program provided me with a new set of skills while building on my existing strengths, helping me move forward. Clinically, both the program and the therapeutic interventions are intentional and based on proven results.
The equine sessions had a profound impact on me, particularly through the group activities that demonstrated horse behavior, boundaries, and the trainability of horses. These sessions made key concepts relatable to my own life and were there to lift me up.
I thoroughly enjoyed the Hijacked Brain series taught by Mr. Hank. This class delves into the various forms of addiction and explains how addiction is reinforced through genetics, experiences, trauma, and other factors.
Ms. Clara, in the art program, integrates individual creativity with therapeutic principles. Clara’s genuine care and insight—being led with a spirit of wisdom—embraced me on my journey to heal along my broken road. You truly are a lifesaver.
The music sessions with Ms. Hannah are not only entertaining but also promote group participation and enjoyment, all grounded in scientific research. Hearing her amazing voice fill the halls brings a peaceful feeling and always a smile to my face.
Ms. Vicky and Mr. Ralph were always there, and their personal testimony was an inspiration to me. Mr. Fred in the equine program is warm and friendly.
The clinicians are great. Group therapy led by Ms. Ashley will resonate in my heart and mind. Ms. Ashley—continue your mission.
The nursing staff, therapists, and Treatment Advocates were incredibly compassionate and knowledgeable, making my healing journey a positive experience. Nurse Amanda is wonderful and has great insight. Thank you for helping me through a terrible flu.
Mr. Barry, I appreciate you and your ready words of encouragement and support.
A special thanks to Pastor Mark—your messages and quiet strength reminded me that healing is also spiritual. Your faith, kindness, and guidance helped me find peace and renewed purpose when I needed it most.
The grounds of the center are truly remarkable, featuring a serene lake for fishing, horseback trails, a gym with modern equipment, and a basketball court. The pavilions with fireplaces offer a cozy space to relax, and the dining services provide quality meals. Nestled in a beautiful countryside setting, the center transforms this difficult yet necessary healing journey into a peaceful experience. Witnessing the sunrises and sunsets reflecting on the water, hearing the early spring chorus of frogs, and admiring the tall pine trees evokes a calming sense of awe and appreciation for the beauty of God’s designs in nature.
I highly recommend the Oxford Treatment Center to anyone looking to begin their journey toward healing or to those wanting to help a loved one break free from the chains of addiction. Please consider reaching out to the center.
The Oxford Treatment Center experience—staff and patients alike—will resonate in my heart and mind each day as I continue to heal.
The journey to heal is not easy. It is a battle. However, the war is won, and it brings freedom from the chains of destruction. You win.
All in all this is a good facility and has made a positive impact on my life. There are many things to do to stay busy including fishing so bring your fishing poles but there are not very many fish in the lake trust me I tried many times lol. The staff is extremely friendly and fun to get along with and if you by any chance have you get Ms. Brandy as a caseworker then you got lucky. She is hands-down the best casewoeker there and will go above and beyond To make sure everything works out the way it should for you. Mr. Mark is a pastor there and he is a terrific guy you couldn't find any better he is strict but fair and truly cares about everybody and wants to see everyone succeed through Christ. The staff have to put up with a lot of shit of course because there are definitely some unsavory residents that will test your ability to not become a serial killer. Of course there are negative things I can say but I don't think that it's fair to say them because it's things that will happen everywhere regardless of the situation. All in all I had a positive experience. Oh and I can't leave out the Cowboys, they were awesome Fred Marty the other cowboy I can't remember his name, Paige, they were all fun as hell to be around. The one cowboy Marty a really great guy, he has a fascination to make the horses lay down I think he has somebody in the Background shooting them them with a tranquilizer but in the end they lay down and he just walks away. Oh and in his younger years he was professional roller skater that wore tight gym shorts, knee high socks and a bandana with a feather sticking up from it which he claims provided the correct air flow and added 7 mph to his top speed. Anyway I can go on and on, you'll make good friends, you will have fun and you will be given the tools to succeed in life if you use them.
Oh the only issue I had with them is that they do not pass out big books for the 12 step program
Oxford treatment center Goes above and beyond for their patience. My counselor, Nadia, was absolutely the best. She genuinely gave a damn and wanted to help me with my issues to stop using. The staff is professional and helpful. And just the fact that they knew my name without having to ask me Twenty times is really heartfelt. I want to thank them all for all. They have done for me and my loved ones. It's because this journey has really changed my perspective On my life and how to handle things and I want to thank them and let each of them know that for the rest of my life they will have a place in my heart. Thank you!!
My overall experience here was the very best. The entire staff was welcoming and encouraging. The food was excellent and they fed us well including a nightly snack. My therapist Shelby was the greatest. Mr Barry taught the best classes on Monday and Friday morning as did Mr Hank on Tuesday. The cowboys at equine therapy changed my life. The medical team was top notch as was the administrative staff. Love this place and I highly recommend it.
