What Our Patients Say About Us

I went through Jaywalker Lodge about 4 years back and was blown away by the experience I had there. I had struggled with addiction for 15 plus years at that point and had made many attempts to get sober by admitting to treatment centers all over the United States. My experience at Jaywalker lodge was unmatched. From the clinical care to the adventure program, I was engaged from day one. The thing that made my experience long lasting and is still a huge part of my life in recovery is the community that Jaywalker has created. I still to this day attend Alumni dinners and get the opportunity to share my experience with current clients.

Hi! My name is Jay, and I attended Jaywalker Lodge starting in February of 2023 for severe alcohol and drug addiction. I'm now approaching 10 months of sobriety. I was living on the edge of death, and I have found an abundance of joy and a NEW LIFE thanks to this program. During my stay in the Lodge, I worked through a wide variety of past trauma with the help of experienced counselors and therapists. They enabled me to become engaged with the local recovery community every day through meetings, activities, and meaningful service opportunities. I ended up staying for 8 months, doing each the Lodge, Solutions, and Sober Living programs. All of them were incredibly helpful for me and allowed me to ease my way back into life on my own. I've left my old life behind entirely, and have relocated permanently to the area so that I can stay connected to this amazing community and to help others through their recovery. I would sincerely recommend anyone who needs help to attend this program and to engage and trust the process. I did, and I'm now living an entirely new life in recovery where I find new meaning and purpose in every waking moment. I truly mean that. If it can work for me, I know that it can also work for anyone else. I will be forever grateful for the life that Jaywalker showed me, and I hope that other struggling souls have the chance to witness the same life-changing experience that I did. Thank you, Jaywalker, for saving my life.

My name is Andrew West, and I have struggled with addiction for a little while. I have been to Muir Woods, Higher Plane twice in Austin, Brazos, Chapter House, and the Foundry, as well as a bunch of outpatients. Since going through Jaywalker, I have maintained over 13 months of sobriety. The only reason I’ve been able to achieve this is due to the Jaywalker community and connections to the program. I currently reside in Carbondale, close to Jaywalker, and attend one meeting per week, along with having a sponsor and a sponsee. I’m sending this message to let others know how beneficial the Jaywalker program is.

My experience at Jaywalker Lodge had a lasting impact on my life. Alice is an exceptional therapist who is insightful, honest, and deeply invested. The work I did with her continues to guide how I approach recovery and relationships today. The outdoor programming at Jaywalker is a huge part of what makes it special. Skiing and fly fishing multiple times a week is not just a perk, its therapeutic. It builds confidence, connection, and real camaraderie. The bonds formed there are genuine and lasting. Stephen Hout and Nick Said are incredible staff members and became close friends of mine during my time there. Their support, leadership, and example made a real difference day to day. Marley Nedlin is also an outstanding psychotherapist. She had me figured out almost immediately and told me things about myself that I had not even recognized after just one session. I am now living in Vancouver, over two years sober, have graduated from university, and have started my own second-stage recovery house with plans to expand very soon. I truly credit Jaywalker Lodge with helping me build the foundation that made all of this possible.

I've been a fan of Jaywalker Lodge for years, and my respect for what they've built has only grown over time. As a fellow behavioral health professional who has referred clients to Jaywalker and spent time on the ground in Carbondale with their team, I've had a front-row seat to what this program actually produces, and it's the real thing. Let me start with the obvious: the location is extraordinary. Carbondale is one of the most beautiful places in this country, and Jaywalker leverages that setting in a way that actually matters clinically. Their clients aren't just staring at mountains, they're experiencing all that incredible place has to offer (skiing, mountain biking, etc.). That connection to the outdoors isn't a selling point, it's part of how men rediscover what it feels like to be alive. But what makes Jaywalker truly exceptional isn't the scenery, it's the community. Carbondale has embraced this program in a way I've never seen in any other treatment market. You can't walk through town without running into an alumnus who stayed, built a life, found work, and put down roots. I've seen this firsthand - walking those streets, talking with people who came for treatment and never left because they finally had something worth staying for. That kind of living proof is rare and powerful. I've sat with their clinical and leadership team, seen how they operate up close, and walked away more impressed each time. Their communication is exceptional, their collaboration with families is thoughtful, and the sustained recoveries I've seen in referred clients speak for themselves. This is a team that isn't content with where they are, they're always evolving, always raising the bar, and they hold themselves to a standard the rest of the industry should be studying. The leadership operates with genuine integrity. That's not something you can fake long-term, and it's certainly not something you can fake in person. Jaywalker has been proving it for years. I tell people this often and I mean it sincerely: if I ever needed treatment myself, Jaywalker Lodge would be my first call.

Jaywalker Lodge was a one of a kind experience. As an alumni its the best time I never want to have again. From the activities to the mental, physical, emotional, and spiritual work, the staff and clinical team create an environment of appreciation and value and combine it with practical life in the great Colorado outdoors. For me, it was such an eye opener to how small my little bubble had become, and made me realize how much I had taken the little things for granted. This place was an amazing wake up call that saved my life, and for any people or families struggling know that you can count on Jaywalker to do the same.

This is a great place to get sober. I would strongly encourage anyone struggling with substance abuse to look into jaywalker. The most important thing about my stay there was the introduction to a 12 step program. If you are staying there get as involved as you can. Jaywalker is a great place to get to get sober, and working a program of recovery is what will keep you sober.

I recently attended a professional weekend at Jaywalker and had the opportunity to go behind the scenes, meet staff at every level, and hear directly from alumni. The transparency, culture, and integrity of the program stood out immediately. As an owner in the treatment space, I was impressed by how clearly Jaywalker lives its mission. The staff are deeply invested, and the alumni stories reflected real growth, accountability, and long-term recovery. I’m genuinely confident in the work they’re doing and look forward to a meaningful collaboration. Thank you to Rob, KC, Dennis, Stefan, Rachel, JP, Geoff, Chef Brian and the rest of the team for the work you’re doing and for the way you welcomed us into the process.
