I was barely hanging on to life before I went through impact. When I was unable to help myself, the staff went well out of their way to make sure I got the help I needed from their program and beyond it.
As someone who had never even considered recovery or even the 12 steps, they made me feel like I was still exactly where I needed to be - and I was. The staff is a collection of role models for how to live life. They all had something I had been missing my entire life and helped me achieve that.
If you’re new to the recovery process or just feel lost in the cycle of alcoholism or addiction I couldn’t recommend calling Josh or Adam’s from Impact enough. There’s a good chance picking up the phone and talking to them will save your life, it certainly saved mine. Recovery is an uncomfortable process, but the guys there helped guide me day by day to get through it. The environment there is extremely positive with great counseling, food, and extra curricular activities as a bonus. It’s a beautiful place to learn how to really live life and I’m eternally grateful for all of them!
If you or your loved one is experiencing difficulties in overcoming addiction to drugs or alcohol or just with life in general, I highly recommend calling Chad or Adams. I recently spent about 65 days in Alabama and experienced a life-changing and life-saving miracle. Even if you do not struggle with addiction of drugs or alcohol, these men share lessons that EVERYONE needs to learn and incorporate into their lives. It took me 38 years and living in the middle of nowhere Alabama to finally find legitimate peace and happiness. Impact is an appropriate name because these guys changed my life and I will forever be grateful to them. It truly helped me put life into perspective.
This program is not just about overcoming an addiction, it is a new way of life. We dive deep into a self-examination, finding what drives our thoughts and behavior, finding our purpose in life and walking through the steps to discovering ourselves and our God-given mission in life. Through the gracious love and support of my family, I was forced to enter treatment. Not only did the members of Impact help me to identify myself as an alcoholic (I did not admit it before), but now I consider myself a grateful alcoholic as I would not have been able to experience this life-saving program otherwise. I've developed a fellowship of men that I will keep in touch with for the rest of my life. I have a wife and 2 kids at home and was the sole provider. Yet we still made it work through the love and support of my family. While I understand others are in much more difficult circumstances, I merely offer this as a suggestion to please not make excuses and get the help you need. Not only for you, but for your family and loved ones so that you can live happily in the moment, and show up as the son, husband, or father that you were called to be.
Impact has two phases: one phase is around 35 days in Odenville while the second phase (upon successfully completing phase 1) is located in Birmingham. While I was initially skeptical at staying another 30 days in Alabama in "Phase 2," I highly recommend it as it served as a great transition of experiencing obstacles but being able to work through them thoughtfully with staff and residents.
In 2018 I went to a rehab for the first time and left without really grasping the message behind the 12 steps. After struggling to recover my own way for 6 years, I realized it wasn't working. I finally got in touch with Adams and I could tell he had something I could get on board with.
Nervous and afraid of what I was getting myself into, I got on a plane to Alabama to check into Impact recovery. When I landed in Birmingham, Adams was right there to greet me at the airport, which showed how much he truly cares. I was driven to the facility by a member of his staff and greeted by other residents upon my arrival. The residents assured me that I was in a good place, and took me in with open arms. After no more than a week, I felt completely comfortable and was immersed in the 12 steps of recovery. Rehab is never easy, but Impact has a way of challenging you to be the best version of yourself, not only for your family/friends, but for YOU.
Through the ups and downs of growth, I found myself healing, and adopting a completely new and positive perspective on life. For the first time in a long time I found a sense of happiness, I truly did not believe I would ever feel. I met great friends and mentors, who I now trust with my life.
I came to Impact to recover from my addiction to alcohol. I had no idea I would be leaving here not only recovered, but as happy as I've ever been in my entire life.
Impact saved my life. Thank you!
Impact might be the only treatment center in the world that tells you the truth about the disease of alcoholism/addiction: the fact you can recover, and live a full enjoyable life. The staff at impact wants you to get well and since getting out I have a solid foundation and no excuse to replace again because of the work done in 35 days and the foundation that was built. I owe my life to impact. From admissions, mentors, to the owners I cannot say enough about the role they played in my recovery with a problem I’ve been dealing with for 16 years.
Impact is a place of intentionality in all decisions. It’s a place to get well and to experience what it really means to live a better life. After having gone through multiple treatment centers I was at my with-ends. I told the admissions line this was my last hoorah and they understood. They put everything they had into giving me the tools to live free from substance abuse disorder. I was told one day we want to give you some direction in life as my mentor said. I feel that I have received that direction and I just hit another mile stone in sobriety. Impact is the greater good of men doing the will of God. It saved my life, it can save yours too.
