Discover Recovery

I chose DR from the top of a Google search, but I’m so glad I went there for treatment. From the moment I first called, every person I encountered who was employed by DR was caring, understanding and helpful. The room was one that had been remodeled and it was like a very nice hotel room. The chef cooked yummy meals, I even got to pick out sloppy joes for a meal before I graduated. The classes and counseling are educational and enlightening. You have an addiction counselor and a mental health counselor, along with the Dr and all the lovely nurses, front desk staff, and management. Everyone is cheering you on. The total number of clients is kept small so it becomes like a little family and you get the attention you need. The enrichment activities are fun. You get to go to movies sometimes, bowling and other fun outings, like the beach!! There was yoga when I was there, and that along with the small gym set on motion my desire to be healthier. The days are full with class and activities but you do get time to relax as well. When it was time to leave I was actually sad to go. DR set me up for success outside of the building walls and I would recommend it to anyone seeking help. They even figure out all of insurance/financial trickery. I’ll have 18 months sober on July 10th, and I could not have done it without Discover Recovery!

This place changed my life. I learned necessary life tools. Also I understand on how to cope and deal with situations/problems in the right matter. The connections between my counselors and staff will always hold a special place in my heart. Countless memories will stick with me from my 30 day stay. I originally went in for alcohol and depression and had the owner calling me daily to check on me in a time when I felt like I had no one else. I highly highly recommend this recovery center. It's truly a A+ experience and I hope anyone going through the similar problems gives this place a try! Thank you from the bottom of my heart for helping me become the best version of myself!

I went here in 2019. I was initially going to give it three stars for lacking the timely, dual diagnostic services I was seeking at the time (it took me 3 weeks into residential treatment here to get a psychologist appointment in Astoria across the bridge, and it was the only one I got other than some weekly or on-call individual counseling with Kara.) There was also a misunderstanding about whether or not I should go on vacation with my family since being freshly sober (since I wasn't court ordered, but I was court recommended to go to inpatient here and complete the staircase of levels of treatment from thereon out.) I ended up being transferred to Bayview recovery in tacoma from discover recovery after I received my vivitrol butt shot at a clinic across the water before I was discharged to that new PHP program. Well..... my lawyer recommended I don't put a review up until my case was over (I completed my diversion program eventually by getting reassessed after my reckless driving in 2018 resulted in 5 charges) coming to discover recovery (to get off of heroin) helped my case tremendously and I was dropped to just 1 count of reckless driving (formerly, it was going to be drug paraphernalia charges, legend drug charges, DUI, reckless driving & possession of marijuana). Thankfully the original prosecutor in that county moved which also helped but I digress. Meeting maryann Murray through Kara after I created a bloodbath during my BPD breakdown, in my post-dopesick unmedicated state (I had just finished detox, which they did a great job on for me btw. Shout out to Theresa especially for helping me recompose myself after I told her I couldn't stop cutting myself and that I wanted to leave, since she found me cutting myself in the bathroom and crying when I was supposed to be in group.) I got triggered and it was more blood than I expected, but what meant the most is dru came to talk me down from it and Kara "pulled a favor" and got me an emergency psychiatric appointment with maryann Murray who changed my life & simultaneously saved it because I left treatment later, went to Europe, came back, kept being a sugar baby, got my first apartment, and adopted other problems of other natures BUT to this day I can say I have almost 5 years off of opiates which I never thought I would achieve. I stayed on naltrexone for a year after starting it (since I didn't like the butt shot so much.) And it must have rewired my brain because once heroin was out and blues came in, I didn't bother. I haven't even sought out heroin and see opiates as a thing of my past entirely now. This was something I was never able to envision before maryann Murray helped me get on the right medication to help me treat the symptoms of My previously diagnosed BPD & CPTSD. Lithium, Lamictal & seroquel saved my life and I eventually got reassessed and finished outpatient despite discover recovery being unable to give me my certification of completion for court since I left PHP. It's all gravy under the bridge now (although being sober only gets so much easier because I proceeded to adopt a meth problem the summer after I got off of heroin... and it didnt take crashing a car into a tree and splitting my face open to address that addiction. It took jail & psychosis.) But I digress. Discover Recovery in tandem with maryann Murray gave me a chance at moving forward In life I wouldve never envisioned before, and I want to thank everyone still there for their services finally.

Discover Recovery is the best drug treatment center in the Pacific North West hands down!!! I am a family member of an addicted young adult, we live in CA and wanted to get him out of state and somewhere peaceful to recover. Thankfully, Discover Recovery came up when searching rehabs in Washington. Jennifer was incredibly kind and so helpful while addressing all of our questions and concerns before and after he arrived. After about 10 days my nephew went from ambivalence to acknowledging he had a problem with alcohol. He absolutely loves his team, his counselor Linda is amazing. Alex has been so helpful when I call to check in. The chef even made him a cake for his birthday. They take them out for activities, we've been able to zoom with him and talk on the phone. It is a huge relief to feel confidently that he is in the best hands, receiving top of the line treatment and care. He is doing so well, I'm so proud of him and eternally grateful to them for the amazing work they're doing there.
