The most monumental event in my entire adult life. My 45 days in Moundridge opened doors for me that will never be closed again. I walked through those double glass doors, merely hoping to learn how to live without booze. But, I came away from treatment with way, way more than that. My experience at Valley Hope literally brought me back to life with an enthusiasm I've not felt since I began drinking 47 years ago. Prior to August 4th, 2023, I believed that whiskey had defeated me and that I was destined to die a tragic skid-row drunk's death, face down in the gutter.
As of today, I'm a mere 91 days away from my last drink. And, though I was once hopeless, broken, and defeated, today nothing in my life seems impossible.
My gratitude for Valley Hope's program and entire staff, especially my primary counselor, is boundless. Thank you all for teaching me how to believe in myself again.
Hats off to the valley of hope!
This place saved my life. The counselors and staff are amazing especially Dr. Phill and Erika they are 2 of the biggest impacts on my life that I have while I was there. I went into treatment planning to use as soon as I got out and Erika was my counselor and she was able to help me open my eyes and see all the underlying problems and trauma that was causing me to use and feel the way I was, and Dr. Phill teaches in such an amazing manner that everything is absorbed and I stayed completely engaged the entire time. Everyone there is so caring and supportive of you and the residents end up becoming family or atleast the ones I was in there with did for me, we are all still in contact and help eachother stay accountable and help eachother through anything we are going through. So if ur contemplating treatment this place is the best place in Kansas to go oh and the foods good too I never ate a meal I didn't enjoy the entire time I was there.
Phill the chaplain is absolutely fantastic! Phill and Makayla case manager are the dynamic duo! My whole experience was amazing from beginning to end, my counselor Denise was also absolutely amazing! From the staff, to the food, everything was unbelievably great! THANK YOU VALLEY HOPE!
Valley Hope of Moundridge will always hold a special place in my heart. The comfort of the facility and their accommodations gave me a sense of home that I had been missing for a long time prior to arriving. As I started my road to recovery, it was not only the comfort of the facility that was so special, but the sense of security and support that I received from the staff. Everyone played such a crucial role in getting my path going. The warm reception I received from the initial call, to the medical staff who watched over and cared for me during a very hard detox, then the Chaplin and counseling staff that opened my heart to what recovery meant. Even the administrative, facility maintenance, and kitchen staff took an invested stake in my recovery, supporting me and encouraging me the whole way through. What was even more paramount to my recovery and giving me the chance to have long term sobriety was what Valley Hope offered after I left their facility. The IOP and Continuing Care services helped me through not only the hard times during the first year of my sobriety, but overall some of the hardest situations that I had every faced. Without the support they provided, the likely-hood of a relapse would have been extremely high. But the best part of Valley Hope I feel is the sense of "WE recover together". Through the Renewal Days, weekly alumni meetings and numerous recovery related events throughout the year put on by staff dedicated to making sure that we stay connected and engaged, I always feel like a part of a group of warriors fighting the battle of addiction. Thank you Valley Hope of Moundridge for fostering the spiritual awaking that has led to a 16 inch drop that has forever changed my life.

My DOC (drug of choice): alcohol.
I entered the doors of Valley Hope at Moundridge, KS. I was angry and felt hurt (by my own mess making of course). Long story short, this place saved my life! If it wasn’t for VH that date I typed above would’ve been my death date. I was given the gift of desperation that they talk about! So far I have been continuously sober with no relapses since I entered that facility, which is 3,710 days sober…and counting.
I was blessed to be able to come back 10 years later to share my experience, strength, and hope to the residents inside. Valley Hope takes great care of their residents and staff! During my stay the staff were nice to everyone. The staff of course have changed since I’ve been there, and now I have friends in recovery with long time sobriety that work there and they are killin it!!
I hope I never have to walk back through those doors a drunk, but I know if I do, those doors are always open for me and anyone else struggling with addiction and needs help!! It’s possible, one day at a time!
If you or someone you know is struggling with addiction, please reach out! Valley Hope has many facilities in Kansas and out of state.
(Photos: from addiction - to rehab - to 10 years sobriety selfie - my 10 year sobriety coin which had 80 years on it before my sponsor gave it to me - now 90 years. And when my sponsee reaches 10 years how cool is it I get to give them their coin and make it 100 years of sobriety in one coin?! Mind blowing! Last photo is a t-shirt my beau gave me!)
