I attended a 30-day residential program at Mountain Springs, it was a very pleasant experience. The staff was phenomenal. I learned a lot in the groups. The counselors and facilitators did a fantastic job.
I attended Mountain Springs Recovery from April to July and it was truly a life changing experience. I first want to say that one of the things I learned from MSR from the Counselors, is that everyone attempting or going through Substance Use Disorders is going through their own individual part of their journey. My point is that not everyone's circumstances are the same and you will get as much out of it as much as you put into it. Do you really WANT to get better? For me, I did. I had the mindset that I did not want my life to be defined by my addiction, so I went into MSR with an open mind and willing to be Open, Honest and Transparent. I didn't care what others thought, I needed to answer the question...why do I feel like I need alcohol to fill this empty space in me...and more importantly, what is the root of that empty space. The staff, counselors, and administrators provided every opportunity and the tools I needed to answer that question. Not everything applied to my specific issues, I had to listen carefully and be honest about myself that, 'wow, that hits home with me', or 'I definitely need to work on this or that'. In my opinion, the counselors cannot possibly know every reason why clients are there, they can only provide the tools, based on actual research, and hope that each client grabs on to what is pulling at them to get better. In my opinion, the counselors aren't there to 'fix you', you are there to try and figure out why you are there based on your individual life experiences and reasons for Substance Use. My advice is to be open, honest and transparent with yourself and approach your time there as your time to focus. During my time at MSR I was able to identify the root of that emptiness in me and that was huge. Just finding what I couldn't figure out myself over the course of my life was priceless to me. I now have the reason, the tools, motivation and confidence to be proud of my sobriety. I have been sober now 8 months, but continue to work on my maintenance of sobriety by voluntarily going into Intensive Outpatient Treatment immediately after MSR and I am still in it today. I give my highest recommendation to Mountain Springs Recovery and the tools they gave me to maintain sobriety.
Deciding to get treatment at MSR was literally the best decision I have ever made. I can not say enough positive things about my experience there (41 days). From John Aicher the director of operations, to Kim who did my intake, to all the BHP's/facilitators and staff (Austin, Heather, Katrina, Val, Larry, Roxanne, Raya, Raelee, Esther, Nina, Elizabeth, Coach Al, Cro) the nurses (Ricky, Dillon, Ayana, Shay, Lala) the kitchen staff (Phil, Don, Steve) to my case manager (Roxie) my therapist (Jason), my hiking homies (Eddie & Rob) and Theresa (mamacita!) for all of their help and positivity during my time there. I truly made life long friends during my time there, and found a brand new outlook on life. I would HIGHLY recommend this facility if you are looking for help. You will not be disappointed I promise. Thank you MSR!
The staff over all is very accommodating. The living conditions were actively improving as I was there. The freedoms were very nice. Classes are about 6 hours a day. Two leaders worked hard to help you know how to apply in real life. The other group leaders have room for improvement. The “providers” are nice but it is challenging to get into a psychiatrist. The only reason I removed one star is because sometimes communication between all of the different groups that work together there is a breakdown and miscommunication, which can cause some stress for clients. I do think they are aware and are actively trying to improve this. I think this is a great place if you want a two week break and to brush up on your mental health. Each weekend there are multiple field trips and there are even animals that come to visit the campus once a week. They are accommodating on diets the best that they can. I never saw them not working on something to try to improve the campus so I think that in itself is a very positive piece. The people who were attend here also add a really positive note to the atmosphere. Most everyone that comes is really here to help themselves and to reenter and ground. It is delightful to be able to be in the mountains and have a beautiful view while recharging.
My stay for Mental Health dual diagnosis and MSR was amazing. I have been to many IOP and PHP programs and this was the most structured one i’ve ever been in. all the facilitators are great Xavier and Elizabeth are awesome. They also have mental health techs that are available 24/7! The girls Aliyah, Hailey, Jordan and Maddi are so wonderful and really helped me through a lot of tough moments. Everything was individualized and all the staff made sure you were taken care of. Two of the directors John and Shay are amazing people who genuinely care about you and your journey. I feel much more stable and i was able to come home and continue to implement the things i’ve learned. Also beautiful scenery, we went on outings and they have ducks and geese. 10/10 experience i would recommend this place to anyone who has the motivation and want for real change.
