THIS IS YOUR SIGN. if you’re reading this review you are probably in the position I was in 3 months ago. You’re hopeless, you’re at the end of your rope. You see no way out, you’re sick and tired of being sick and tired. This is your sign. You don’t have to live like this anymore. Please listen to me. You’re worth it. You’re worthy of life and worthy of recovery. Hi I’m Cameron and I’m alcoholic, an alcoholic who sees the light at the end of the tunnel for the first time in a long time. I checked into FBTS on September 22nd 2025, lost, confused, and terrified. It was the best decision I have ever made, a choice that undoubtedly saved my life. Over the last 3 months I have made connections that will last me a lifetime time, made friends i will never forget. This program, these staff members, these classes are a miracle you get to witness. Every single staff member is an angel who genuinely and truly cares about you and your recovery, the kitchen staff make excellent food that keeps you nourished and ready to take on your day, even the cleaning staff care about you and your life. You owe it to yourself to come here and get sober. It’s okay to not be okay and this place will embrace you just as you are. A mix of SUD and mental health counseling couples with outdoor activities like pickleball, basketball, badminton, and volleyball, a fully stocked gym and a couple miles of beach front trials to explore make your recovery feel like a vacation. Almost everything is taken care of for you so you have time to focus on what’s most important right now. You. I promise you if you come here you will NOT regret it, it will save your life and you will see that light at the end of the tunnel just like I do.
Being my 6th treatment over the years. Free by the sea has helped me more then I have ever been helped before. The self awareness and trust I’ve gained within myself to really reconnect my mind body and spirit here has truly been my spiritual awakening. Super new to me! I’m absolutely thankful for everyone here. I got here on my birthday and it’s been the greatest birthday gift ever to strengthen my mindset, strengthen my skillset, and sharpen my toolset, to become an asset for what I truly desire. Life.
Free by the Sea is truly a remarkable place that exceeded all my expectations. From the moment I arrived, I was welcomed with warmth and understanding. The facility itself is well-maintained and provides a peaceful environment conducive to healing and growth. Being so close to the ocean adds a serene, calming presence that nurtures the spirit and helps in the recovery process.
What truly sets this place apart is the staff. The team at Free by the Sea is beyond amazing. Their dedication and genuine care for each individual are palpable in every interaction. They go above and beyond to ensure that each person feels supported and empowered. The counselors, medical staff, and support team all work seamlessly together to create a holistic and nurturing experience.
As you settle in, something extraordinary happens—you begin to form deep connections with others in recovery. These individuals become your family, sharing in your struggles and triumphs. The bond that develops is unbreakable, offering strength and support that extend far beyond your time here.
I never expected to find such a level of care and commitment, and I am immensely grateful for the positive impact they have had on my journey. This experience in healing is one I will never forget. If you're looking for a place that offers not just treatment, but also compassion, community, and a path toward renewal, Free by the Sea is the perfect choice. Highly recommended!
Heeellllloooo, this is my heartfelt endorsement of a place that truly transforms lives.
My name is Shawn and tomorrow I leave Free by the Sea after spending five weeks here. I wanted to write this review to share my experience.
Like all the other residents (patients), I didn’t come here on a winning streak. The moment I walked in the door, I was greeted with a warm welcome from the staff as well as several other residents. I was broken in every way and seeking change that I couldn’t accomplish on my own. What I hadn’t anticipated was coming to a place that would change my life in ways I never imagined.
The campus is located a couple hundred yards from the Pacific Ocean. A pickle ball court, and a beach volleyball court is surrounded by a walking path in the back of the property. All classes, as well as our AA and NA meetings, are held in the same room which hosts a TV that plays movies, shows, and sports (go Hawks and Mariners) during our free time. The food is amazing and all you can eat. There is also a snack room that is open around the clock for those late night snackers. You will never go hungry here. Also, another favorite part of being here is their Sound Bath class, and art class. They mix it up here to provide more options that contribute to recovery.
One word to describe the staff is amazing. most of them are in recovery themselves, so it’s safe to say that you’re interacting with people who have been in your shoes and understand what you’re going through. They’re always available to help in any way they can. Their work is more than a job to them. The work they do is because they truly care. They take great pride in witnessing the growth of the residents, and watching the change in them from the time they arrive to the day they leave. The love they share a second to none, and they are a huge reason why my stay here will be unforgettable. To all the staff, I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart.
Finally, I want to talk about the other residents whom I had the privilege to share my time with. My favorite part about being here was not only getting well myself, but watching everyone here grow and become better people . We became more like family rather than just acquaintances. Some of my best counseling sessions came from my conversations with them. I got to watch people peel the layers, become vulnerable, and share things about their life that maybe they thought they weren’t going to be able to share when they got here. I got to watch these men and women grow and change day by day. It’s been an extraordinary thing to watch and be a part of.
All in all, whether you have been to treatment before, or this is your first time, free by the sea is the place you want to be. I’ve never felt so prepared to get back into the world and tackle life again. I’ll carry my experience here with me always. I entered here a broken man, and I leave a man with a solid foundation ready to help others who share similar stories is mine. Until then, stay safe and may the best always be with you.
When I was lost and had no hope. When my world was torn upside down and had no idea where to even begin. By the grace of the universe I was referred to Free by the Sea by a friend. I called them and was met with compassion and understanding. They guided me through the intake process and for the first time in a long time I felt heard. I felt seen. I completed their 30 day residential program and stayed longer for their IOP program and they literally saved my life. The staff and activities, the classes and their content, was exactly what I needed to get my life back on track. I found peace and safety. They fostered a place for me to fight my addiction and heal my heart. This was my launchpad to kickstart my life again after the darkness. From the clinical director, the counselors, the staff, the kitchen and cleaning staff, the owners themselves, and the medical teams. The admissions staff, the group fellowship, the nature, the ocean, the entirety of Free by the Sea has been a game changer. I owe them my life and if you’re looking for a holistic place to heal the wounds of addiction and wounds of the heart. This is the place to reach out to and start the process. Today could be the first day of the rest of your life!
