What Our Patients Say About Us
Reviews
This place saved my life. I’m beyond grateful. The entire staff (counselors, chef, therapists, HR personnel) go above and beyond to give you all tools needed to stay clean and sober. Personally I’ve been clean almost 8 months and owe a huge debt of gratitude to Extra Mile Recovery. Location is amazing. There’s weight lifting, pickle ball, basketball, volleyball, fishing at the lake….plenty of things to do during your down time. Great place. Great staff. Great chef
The extra mile recovery is where God placed me to seek recovery. There’s no other explanation around it. It’s all free will, you either want to be sober or you don’t. There’s no other place I could find recovery. Believe me after attending 5-6 other rehabs I would relapse. The people, environment and structure at the extra mile is top notch. There will be drama as it would be anywhere else, the food will get complacent, people WILL get on your nerves, but if you truly want help and can put all worldly issues behind you and just take the time at the extra mile to soak in what they offer, I feel you can’t go wrong!!!
Take my word, your life will continue to get better one day at a time when you accept the sober lifestyle and separate yourself from old friends and ways. Remember, misery loves company. You’ve got to get yourself together before you are any good to anyone else in your life.
Best decision by far coming to the Extra Mile to begin my recovery. This place truely changed my life and has given me a life worth living. If you want to recover I highly suggest you start it here at the Extra Mile. 5 stars hands down!
I can't say enough good things about this place. It is a very welcoming environment, and the staff works diligently to make sure you are well taken care of. It is a great family vibe that thrives on rebuilding lives for the better. The Clinical Assistances, Therapist, Maintenance, Chef, Nurse, and everyone else at this company works hard everyday to ensure that clients are well taken care of, and are on the right path to recovery.
This place is so incredible and I don’t even know where to start to describe it. They hit the mark on multiple crucial necessities for a solid recovery such as, therapy, curriculum, facility, staff and food! This is not my first treatment stay but I am so happy that I restarted my recovery Journey at The Extra Mile!
Therapy: I had Kim as a therapist and her treatment methods are unparalleled to any prior therapy I have had. The care she provided and the insight she possesses are what I attribute a lot of my progress to. She is kind, caring, passionate, and an expert in the field. I was so grateful that I received her as a therapist however, you can’t go wrong with any of the clinicians there. It’s a well rounded, solid team! They all run groups as well and they all have a lot to offer.
Curriculum: the curriculum appeared to be perfectly designed by the hands of something greater than the human species. There is a solid course that walks you through a lot of useful information and tools such as addiction education, relapse prevention, trigger identification, and information on the brain, how it works, and the results of addiction in the brain. It helped to gain a deeper understanding of why my brain acts the way it does and the effects of trauma on the brain. The owner even came and ran some groups occasionally and the man knows his stuff. It was nice to see him so invested in the program and the clients there. On top of all of that useful information you also get a lot of information, support, and resources to work a solid 12 step program while you are there. They also take you to outside meetings 4 times a week. Thanks to all the work I put in with some great support I walked out of there feeling pretty free and connected which was unlike I felt being sober for 4 years prior. I’m sitting at the airport right now without a temptation in sight!
Facility: the facility is in a rural part of town and being from Austin it was a culture shock at first but was so breathtaking after I got acclimated. Waking up every morning to meditate while simultaneously being surrounded by beautiful trees and the sounds of nature was superb and it was a nice break away from the noisy city. Some recreational activities provided are pickle ball, sand volleyball, basketball, well equipped gym, and some good ol’ fishing! I don’t fish but a lot of the guys there enjoyed it. They also take you off campus for a lake day on the weekends! They pack a bunch a food and we would hang out there for a few hours. The housing is a collection of cabins and they are quaint and comfortable. The beds are supportive and I had no trouble falling asleep and staying asleep. The facility was clean and well laid out.
Staff: the staff here is awesome! They are all in recovery and they all truly care. They were attentive, caring, respectful and inspirational. From the moment I reached out to Chase in admissions I felt cared for. It’s immediately apparent that they work there because they have a passion for helping people. Chad picked me up from the airport and we chatted the entire two hours from the Memphis airport. It was a relief after ruminating on some pretty deep feelings of hopelessness and fear. The CA’s made me feel immediately welcomed and were always friendly and helpful. They all deserve their flowers! I play guitar, specifically electric guitar, so one of the CA’s brought his electric guitar and left it for me to play a majority of my time there.
Food: The food is SOOOOO GOOD! The chef, Shane, knows what he is doing and is a fantastic cook. They also provide tons of food to snack on after meal hours. Make sure to ask for his lasagna and tell him I sent you! ;)
If you made it to the end, you are probably researching or inebriated and if you are either STOP and just get to The Mile! Trust them to handle the rest. It’s worth it, I pinky promise. You deserve a life of happiness and it can be achieved at The Mile. I have never felt as renewed and spiritually connected as I do now. I love this place so much and I will forever cherish my time there.
