I’ve been to far too many rehab centers in my life and I feel I’ve always taken something positive away with me. My experience at AdCare has been amazing. The core group of fellow patients I spent my time with were crucial to my overall experience. I found the groups to be top notch with appropriate content and well presented. Special nod to Megan,Carlin and bill. My counselor Victoria was great. She went over and above to help me navigate an issue with insurance and worked hard at getting my aftercare set up. She really took her job to a different level. I’m leaving AdCare with great optimism and am grateful for everything.
Also the food was great and I gained 15 lbs that I didn’t really need
An Incredible Journey of Recovery at Adcare Rhode Island
I am writing this review with my utmost gratitude to the entire team at Adcare Rhode Island for helping me navigate through the darkest period of my life – my battle with alcohol addiction. From the moment I arrived, taking an Uber all the way from New Jersey, I felt a sense of hope and support that continued throughout my stay from May 21st to June 3rd, 2025.
The facilities at Adcare were well-maintained and provided a comfortable and safe environment conducive to healing. However, it was the exceptional staff who truly made my experience transformative.
I want to extend a special and heartfelt thank you to my counselor, Karen. Without a doubt, she is the best counselor I could have asked for. Her guidance, empathy, and unwavering support were instrumental in my early recovery.
I also want to acknowledge the incredible knowledge and support provided by counselors Chuck, Ella, and Lori. Each of them brought unique perspectives and valuable insights that contributed significantly to my understanding of addiction and the path to sobriety.
To all the dedicated and compassionate TA's who worked on A unit during my stay, thank you. Your tireless efforts and positive attitudes created a supportive and encouraging atmosphere for all of us. Lauren and Roland.
Finally, I want to express my sincere appreciation to the nursing staff: Janet, Sabrina, Jessa, Justin, and Mary Beth. Their professionalism, care, and understanding made a difficult time much easier to bear.
My journey to recovery began with a leap of faith and a long Uber ride from New Jersey to Adcare Rhode Island. Looking back, choosing Adcare was one of the best decisions I've ever made. If you are struggling with addiction, I wholeheartedly recommend Adcare Rhode Island. They provide the support and expertise you need to find your way back to the light. My apologies if I didn't mention your name. I am terrible with names. I highly recommend staying longer than detox. Please go to residential.I met people who were there to detox. They have been to detox 20-50 times at different facilities. Yoga and acupuncture are great tools for recovery. Yoga is no joke with the Wendy's. Even the driver who drove me to the train station (Shawn) was very knowledgeable when it came to recovery.I can go on and on. The bad reviews I don't understand.
Hands down, the best place to go for recovery in all of New England! The staff, the programming content and the heart they put into every patient is second to none, and everyone walks out of this facility a better human being. Other recovery centers could learn a thing or two from AdCare … Thank-you all for the best decision I have ever made in my life!!! ❤️
AdCare and ALL of their team went above and beyond to treat all of patients with dignity and respect. From the kitchen staff to the TA’s, to the nurses, counselors, case managers and house keeping.
AdCare is so much more than a “recovery” program, it is a foundation for total wellness and stability. I was humbled by the bed side manner of all of the staff and their desire to come in with a smile daily and want to get to know each patient.
My programming was 24 days, each group session was designed with intention and preservation of privacy. All of the meals were served 3 times a day with every food group and thoughtful touches, as if patients were at home. There is the ability to use the gym, beautiful veranda deck, participate in volley ball, yoga, acupuncture, and one on one therapy as well as family therapy.
It’s all in the patients will to want to start their wellness journey, you have to make the best of it, value yourself and the others are you. The living space is a mutual space that should be respected.
For my wellness and mental health journey, there are some outstanding staff that I would like to thank…who made the AdCare experience personal.

Thank you again Ad-Care
AdCare truly is a place that changed my life forever. I been to other facilities in the past and not even close to the care this place gives. The staff are all amazing and if I could name each and every one of them I would. They all make sure your needs are met and help you throughout the process. I have to give a big thank you to the counselors Cianna and Victoria. All the counselors are amazing but these two truly became a huge part of my journey here.
Cianna was my first counselor when I was in detox and she listened to my story to get a better idea of who I was. She didn’t just listen but she understood and didn’t judge, instead she admired me for my strength. She always checked in and made sure I was ok . She is a counselor that cares and loves what she does, it’s not a job for her is a passion.
When I got to residential Victoria became my counselor and right away she gained my trust. She listened and she understood and helped me understand myself. Always checked in and made sure I was achieving my goals. She made many suggestions to make my recovery successful and honestly she never failed to show me that there are good caring people out there. She played a huge part of my journey and forever I will be grateful.
Overall every counselor in the unit is caring making you a priority. I loved how they didn’t just drill a 12 step program like many facilities do but they give you tools on how to understand yourself and your addiction. They help you understand why we are addicts or alcoholics. They give tools on how to manage it so you can be successful and honestly is the best feeling, because it does not make you feel broken, instead you feel like hey I can fix this.
Now when it comes to the overall staff nurses and TA they give top of the line care. They don’t make you feel like a patient/client they treat you as a human not our label. You connect with some more than others but I have to say nurse Wendy was amazing. Most caring and loving nurse I have ever met. Always making sure you feeling well, making sure you have all your needs met and most of all giving positive motivation and giving you hope that it will be ok.
AdCare will always hold a special place for me. I thank them for helping me through this all and giving me the confidence I needed to believe in myself. Overall amazing staff, awesome facility, good food, clean and very organized and filled with fun activities. AdCare is a home not just a facility.
